A few months back, the iPhone overtook the 5 megapixel Nokia N95 as the most popular cameraphone on Flickr. Even though it looks like there was a slight hiccup since then, *gasp*, the iPhone appears to be widening the lead. As Flickr (Yahoo!) is a fairly international company with an international userbase and iPhone's global distribution is just starting to approach that of the Nokia N95, we expect that margin to widen, even with the iPhone's relatively paltry 2 megapixel, flashless camera. Also 3G helps with the uploading, right?
Perhaps that GPS camera tagging feature is also making a difference? See full Flickr stats here. Notice that Nokia as a brand still owns the cameraphone category, just no single device of theirs is competing with the iPhone.
Update: Mobile Fotos seems to be the winner in the mobile Flickr photo updater category...if you are into that sort of thing.

Sucks!
To be fair I don't think the camera sucks at all.
Even with the res and the lack of flash I have managed to get some really good shots.
It's much more stable than anything from the likes of Nokia - my N73 would crash as soon as I opened the camera cover.
number of iphone users
Isn't the number of iphone users much greater than for total users of the N95

hell no!! the n95 has been available world wide for like a year and a half - 2 years now, usually subsidised.

those numbers would be even higher if apple hadn't made the decision to strip the metadata when you email the picture to your flickr account. i was uploading pictures from my phone almost daily until i realized they were being resized and stripped of their metadata- including what camera took the picture. now i wait and transfer them to iphoto and then upload to flickr- much more inconvenient which is why most of the time the picture just gets deleted and never uploaded now. thanks apple. :)
and i am aware that apps like "airme" include the metadata, but they still resize the image. totally unnecessary since the pics are low quality (good for a camera phone) already.
How do I upload images from my iPhone?
Ok, as a noobie how do I upload images from my iPhone to flickr?
there are several ways. you
there are several ways. you can email them to your flickr account (you can find your email info in your flickr account settings). to do this you just select "send picture via email" when you have a picture selected on the iphone. drawback here is that it strips the metadata and automatically downsizes the image(as i said in my previous post).
you can also download 3rd party apps that facilitate this, such as airme (free) or i believe there is even an official flickr app that does this as well as offering an iphone formatted flickr photo browser.
Good shots
I've seen some great iPhone photos.
AirMe v. Mobile Fotos
AirMe is quite good but to upload to Flickr requires you to create an account on their servers. Yet another on-line account that I don't need.
Mobile Fotos can upload direct, and if the picture has been taken through the application it is kept at full size. It is only pictures that have already been taken that are reduced in size upon uploading. This is Apple's decision, not Mobile Fotos.
