I've had it for awhile with that little work around that was posted a week ago in here but I just checked in itunes to see if there was an update and sure enough it updated my carrier settings. So works here in the East Coast (New Jersey)

Does this cost anything above and beyond SMS plans?

Got it working on my iPhone 3GS 32GB running FW 3.0. It's Jailbroken and working GREAT! *Plus still got my tethering* Want it to do the same? Go here...

Long story short. Download the hacked 6.0 carrier settings, and follow the instructions on there to make it work. You get tethering AND MMS.

Last note, if your jailbroken (like me) and you have a revised at&t carrier logo (on the top right next to your signal bars) it won't install through itunes. (I used itunes 9.0 too)

You'll get the prompt saying "*BLA BLA BLA's iPhone could not be updated. An unknown error occured."

So go into cydia. Uninstall temporarily your custom logo, and then do the update so you don't get the error message from itunes indicating that it can't install. Then after REMEMBER TO RESTART your phone!!! Then boom shakalaka! Tethering and MMS.

Then if you really want your logo back, just go back into cydia and reinstall your logo. It should work fine even after.

If your wondering how long it took me to figure all this out? About 5 hours last night. So I just saved you hours of work, and you can be up and running in 10 mins. TOPS.

You can now up-vote me :-)

yep... once getting the updated carrier settings... you have to restart your phone.

Don't know, just canceled my AT&T for sucking. However, I am no2 in pre-paid limbo awaiting a Verizon iPhone.

What's wrong with email?

*sigh*

Because not everybody has email on their phones.

*sigh*.

Because: 1. Not everybody has email on their phone, and 2. It's faster and more spontaneous than email.

yes finally it's working but but it takes forever to send the photo. i cant imagine how the network gonna be when all iphone users sends videos or photos.. HAAA....

You're gay

yea but it takes forever to send a simple low res pic.. wow..

Still not getting the big fascination with this.

After the novelty wears off, I wonder how many people will actually use this regularly?

finally! it works in chicago!

Just found out it REQUIRES 3.1 which is a TOTAL JOKE since I was in Calgary last week using rogers PPD (ultrasn0w) and it worked there.

Guess I STILL won't have it because the unlock to me is MUCH MORE IMPORTANT than MMS which I would probably only use once a year.

You FAIL. all that is required is 3.0 at least, with Carrier File (IPCC) 5.1

iPhone 3g w/ 3.0 fw, 5.1 ipcc, jailbroken here, and it's working. not slow at all.

 Semper Fidelis

Your are a pleasant addition to this board.

PER APPLE 3.1 is required.

That being said, I do have it working on my 3GS with 3.0.1 installed.

YOU FAIL in the personality department.

its not semper fi its AIRBORNE get it right fucko

I've never needed it, and now that it's here, I still won't use it. MMS is for teens who want to send illicit pics of themselves to each other.

LMAO-You mean like Vanessa Hudgens? :)

She almost got me in trouble with my wife the last time she sent me those...

i have a 2g iphone, who cares about this.

If you've got 3.0 or 3.0.1 and you're jailbroken, you can install ActivateMMS2G from Cydia to make MMS work. I've been using it on T-Mobile for some time now. ;)

Lida going Lida

Been rocking the MMS for for a few days now. It keep getting slower by the day. Took 10 minutes to send a pix message. :(

Guys, really... here in Germany we have MMS for years, but nobody uses it. It is expensive and not comfortable. Why would I use MMS instead of an email on the iPhone?

Because not everyone here in the USA has smartphones that support email...or the email (data) plans are too expensive....We are "light years" behind in terms of mobile phones; therefore, MMS is still necessary here.

Damn, I gotta gen 1 iPhone... no MMS for me. :(

Finally got it to work...but the messages take like 10 minutes to get through.
